Socialist Clowns: The Democrat Field Makes Even Rudy Look Good

kennedy60.jpgFollowing each and every Democrat Party debate featuring the dismal collection of dunces and fools assembled by the party elite to run for president, I can’t help but feel less ashamed of my own party’s assortment of disgraceful candidates (Rudy and McCain to be exact) and wish that the Democrat Party would actually locate some people who aren’t in need of serious coursework in free market economics, American history, and basic civics.

Jack Kennedy would be ashamed at what has happened to his party. A president who stood for strength, peace, diplomacy, courage, and bringing out the best in America would not be able to recognize what his party has become (same way as Cal Coolidge wouldn’t recognize what the neocons have done to his GOP either). The Democrats have no Jack Kennedy’s in the bullpen and the most recent CNN debate helped magnify this.

The best case scenario for this gaggle of depressed donkeys is for this entire sad, sorry bunch to go away and leave Joe Biden with the nomination. I watched the CNN debate the other night (and most of the previous ones). This field of candidates is an absolute disaster. As always, the debate turned into a liberal pissing contest with them all trying to tell the voters how Candidate 1 will support a bigger, more intrusive government than Candidate 2.

For example, Hillary attacked Obama for having a health care plan that a) doesn’t cover enough people and b) doesn’t “mandate” enough coverage for those he is covering. The simple fact is that a) not everyone wants or needs coverage by the government and b) any forced health care coverage is unconstitutional, costly, and immoral.

Second, Bill Richardson, who gets plumper and more liberal each time I see him, supports having universal, government mandated pre kindergarten, full day kindergarten, government paid college, and much more. Same with John Edwards (whose awful health care plan includes REQUIRED visits to the doctor) who supports “college for everyone,” even though not everyone needs it or wants it!

I even heard Senator Obama say that we ought to be building schools in foreign lands! Such a suggestion makes Rudy look like a piker when it comes to outlandish, neo-Wilsonian nation building in the Middle East.

The Democrat field this year can be simply described like this: a bunch of mindless hacks who think that government is the be all and end all of the problems we face in America. Meanwhile, none of them have the gravitas or common sense ability to logically look at our problems and sense that there may be a non-governmental solution to anything. They all are toadies for the UN and other international organizations that want nothing more than to bankrupt the US and break down our borders.

If any of them really cared about Red China taking our jobs, poisoning our kids, and owning our future—they would all be advocating for an end to fast track trade negotiating authority, a repeal of NAFTA, and a boycott of the upcoming Olympic Games. But if you listen carefully, they all talk tough on Red China yet promise no action. Especially the lady in the asbestos pant-suit whose husband’s administration was testament to the growing Chinese influence in our midst.

biden.jpgNot one of them… not one… thinks that illegal immigration is a crisis. This came up a few debates back with Matthews hosting. None will address the reconquista that is happening in the southwest. None will support deporting those who are here once they “come out of the shadows.” None will support America first and everyone else second.

None of them knows or cares about fixing social security. They are afraid to touch it. None of them want non-governmental solutions to health care (which should not be touched by government, period). None of them are willing to admit that schools are failing and that the only way to fix them is the complete and total removal of the federal government from public education, thus giving control back to states and localities as the Constitution suggests. None believe in the power of the individual and all support collective answers that only go down a one way road: Socialism Street.

This is a cowardly field of want-to-be presidents who should never be permitted near the White House. Joe Biden is the intelligent, informed, thoughtful exception and it should tell us something about the Democrat Party since he doesn’t register beyond 4% in any poll. Biden/Webb is the Dream Team for the Democrats, a team that isn’t even on the radar.

I’ll continue supporting Ron Paul, the only pro-freedom, pro-liberty, pro-America candidate and sincerely pray that none of these Democrats find their way to the White House.

My opposition to the Democrat field isn’t personal, it is historical and ideological. Nations that attempt to tax their people into submission, use government power to destroy the productivity and creativity of the masses, and interfere brazenly in the affairs of other nations have long been doomed to fail. The path towards our national demise hasn’t been helped by our current president, but it surely will not be corrected by any of these sad sacks.

Where is Jack Kennedy when you need him?

Ouch. Very well put

I agree with you as it concerns the Dem line up. Before the campaign started I actually liked Bill Richardson, he seemed a thoughtful fellow. Somehow he has turned into a total loon, striving hard to swing farther left than his opponents. It tells you who he thinks make up the Dem base. The Repubs have a good line up, I think, with the exception maybe of Tancredo and Paul. Giuliani is a one note instrument (maybe two notes), Romney is a conservative from a liberal state, Huckabee has rounded out the edges of hard Republicanism, Thompson is like Grandpa come to discuss what you did wrong, McCain is our Hero, and Hunter talks like he just got out of committee. All of them speak to the issues and are level headed. We couldn't go wrong if any one of them were the nominee.

I agreed with most of what you said up to here, "I even heard Senator Obama say that we ought to be building schools in foreign lands!". From then on, boom boom boom, disagree with that, disagree with that, disagree with that. A mix of a capitalist government with a socialist government would be better than a pure, "leave it to the masses" type of government, I would argue. Somewhere in between where the U.S. is now and where Holland is.

Good article Shrader. Although I would argue that nothing could make Rudy or the other Republican candidates look good. Ron Paul makes them all look terrible.

We have a "leave it to the masses' type of government?" Anywhere between where the U.S. is now and where Holland is would be continuing along the socialist route we've been on, as evidenced by the push to impose universal health care…

Just as usual, very good article Nathan.

Thanks for the comments, however, I do think we could go way wrong with most of the GOP nominees as well. I think that Duncan Hunter is a good man who has served well and would make a good President. I wouldn't vote for Rudy or McCain under any circumstances based upon their bizarre foreign policy and immigration positions. I like Mike Huckabee. I've met him and think he is an outstanding person. However, I'm not so sure that compassionate conservatism has already been shown as a total and complete failure. Paul and Tancredo are the two most solid conservatives in the race, and therefore my number one and two picks. Tancredo has the best credentials on immigration of anyone in Washington and Paul is the most tireless defender of liberty that exists. Shrader

Joe… you are correct. Let the Revolution begin!

Do you really want more big government breathing down your neck? I think that when you trust the people to self-govern, you are coming closer to the ideals of Madison, Jefferson, Franklin, and company. Our goal should be to turn back the socialist advance that really gained momentum under FDR and the New Deal and was allowed to continue flourishing under Johnson and other administrations. Shrader

Thanks! I hope that I didn't actually do more damage than good for Joe Biden!

I've never said we have a 'leave it to the masses' type of government. That's what Ron Paul and (it seems to me) Nathan is supporting.

I don't trust a pure free market. I trust a so-called 'big government' more than I trust a 100% capitalist market.

Excellent article Nathan. I agree with you emphatically; Biden is the only Democratic hopeful who has any business running for president at all. Webb is about the only other Democratic senator I have any respect for. This is all the more meaningful in light of what happened 44 years ago today. P.S. Today's Triva: I attended President Kennedy's funeral in Arlington National Cemetery.

thank you so much for this article. you have opened my eyes! i can't believe that a few months ago i supported some of these clowns. i hope we are strong enough to stop them!

The one group that never gets tarred in elections is the electorate itself. We get bland leaders because we refuse to let anyone speak their mind without immediate outcry, recriminations and Monday morning quarterbacking. Picking a leader shouldn't be akin to voting for prom king (or queen, in this case), i.e., a massive popularity contest based solely on looks and who makes the coolest posters. And candidates won't talk about Social Security because voters have a major freak out every time they do — to paraphrase a Bill Cosby routine, "American voters don't want justice, they want quiet." So while I agree that Joe Biden is a smart, capable guy and I would pick him over the others, no one else will since he lost his hair. Seriously. (Nathan - let's discuss at the next Scanlon family reunion!)
