Hey y'all I've been trying to join for the last week and keep getting told I'm invlidated. Help a girl out?
Let's check it out — I'm sure it can be fixed.
I find this very sexist: "Is Code Pink a Feminist Organization? CODEPINK is a women-led organization that seeks to empower women politically, creating space for women to speak out for justice and peace in their communities, the media and the halls of Congress. Women are not better or purer or more innately nurturing than men, but the men have busied themselves making war, so we are taking the lead for peace." So tell me, does this mean that feminists are now so scared to use the word, that they've decided to call themselves "Women-led?" And isn't this an insult to women-led organizations with august reputations and solid track records of providing opportunities for women and girls through education and real social justice and economic justice programs that can be tracked? And you tell me… "The men have busied themselves making war." What do YOU men think about being portrayed in this way? And as long as they're doing this: "We've stood outside high schools and career fairs encouraging young people not to join the military, provided support to soldiers who refuse to go, and lobbied for veterans' benefits under the banner "Love the Troops, Hate the War." So this means that they're hindering an individual's right to self determination. They're harassing young men & women from going into the military. So tell me, what else are they doing for these young men & women? Are they getting them scholarships into tradeschool or college? Are they finding them jobs with benefits? They'll counter with "we're saving their lives," but do they have any idea that many young men and women have actually found themselves by serving their country? And that most young men and women live to tell about it? These people hate two things: 1. Men. 2. The military. They are also not opposed to destruction of property, making false accusations against individuals, and disrupting the peace. In short, they're not pacifists, they're control freaks who don't want a better world, they just want their way. So E-Glint wanted to know why they'd never get behind Hirsi. It's because of this. Nothing makes them more scared than a non-white woman, who is well read, well traveled, comes from a rich cultural background, is educated, articulate and disagrees with them. "Now, we are dedicated to creating a movement that is capable of stopping the next war, " So they've started their own. They've reinvigorated the gutter language of the 60's by calling soldiers "killers" "murderers," "criminals," thus bringing out disgraceful stereotypes. They've screamed in soldiers faces, they've harassed young recruits, they've interrupted congressional hearings, talks, discussions. It seems to me, they're causing such deep divisions on their way to creating a "peaceful world." They're not buddhists, jains, amish or any number of groups who are bonafide pacifists. No, they're very aggressive and violent persons, and just because they can use the internet and hijack the color pink, doesn't mean that they're any less dangerous than some of the fringe groups of the 1960's.

Actually, I find it curious that feminists in many ways celebrate masculinity and demean femininity. I would think that feminists would celebrate the nature of women - embrace motherhood, tout modesty, look…more feminine.
I always think of feminism as something young women in academia will outgrow once they have their first kid, have to run to the grocery store with ten bucks to make dinner that is already late, and when they have to suck it up and go volunteer in their kid's classroom and find out that it's their kid who is the one saying things like, "That SUCKS!" to the teacher. Sorry I forgot to sign up for PGN yesterday. Oh well. Call it my sucky non-feminist fate that had me watering down the pampas grass in the neighbor's yard for fear of a conflagration. But I did get mentioned in the Washington Examiner on Thursday in the commentary section in an article by Bob Cox. Maybe if I were a feminist, I'd just go out, buy a chain saw, tear out the neighbor's pampas grass and risk litigation. As it is, when they have on in pink, maybe I'll get one.
Great rant, Waitress Polly! And congrats on making it into the Washington Examiner!

Hey guys, Just saw the list of finalist for the new PG members. Wake Up America blog by Steve Dennis would be a great addition. A great writer and a prolific commenter. Also has a good grasp of the political culture of the NorthEast part of the country. He would make a fine addition to our group.
Tax Hike unless Congress acts. Brian Tumulty wrote in Gannett News Service that unless the Congressional Knucleheads get " moving" the Middle class is facing a Tax increase due to the Sunsetting of the AMT in 06. The result according to the IRS is that On average the Middle class is facing a tax incresae from the Current Bush tax cuts from 26-28% toa 32.5-35% tax rate for the filing in 07…. So unless we get to the DO NOTHING Knuclkle heads "motivated" before Thanksgiving recess, the ones too busy to pass non binding resolutions and working 4 days a week to GET MOVING… Well Here you go!!!
