First Comment :-)

it looks great and worked very fast for me!

Thanks for the great review. Please give us lots of feedback. We're looking for new ways to improve our product and give you an even better commenting experience. Also if you want to get this on your blog please sign up as a tester. We're adding new blogs all the time. Hope you all enjoy.

Looking good.

Kind of a drag that they aren't supporting blogger yet. I tried to sign up with my wordpress site, which I through some of my posts on….didn't want to work

But obviously did…. : )

I think they'll be working on blogger very soon, from what I hear.

Just looking forward to it. I did send an e-mail to support: When I registered it didn't give me any indication that I had been successful, only that I needed to enter a "proper" (sorry that I can't remember exactly) email address; so I said oh the heck with it. BUT, I did receive the confirmation e-mail, which did go to my spam section, however, if you register somewhere at least have the smarts to look there, so that doesn't bother me. Now, the problem is that I couldn't log in to the forum to make these comments. I'm able to log into the site itself, but when I head over to the forum it prompts my logging in again and doesn't recognize me there.

Sorry for any problems you may have had. We are in early stage alpha and working hard to improve our product and work out any potential bugs. I'll look into the forum issues, but if you have any further problems and/or feedback I would encourage you to email us at support@intensedebate.com and feedback@intensedebate.com. And blogger support is on the way. We'll be looking for testers soon, so if you are interested please let us know by either replying to this comment, emailing us at one of the above email addresses, or signing up as a tester on the front page of our site.

thanks, Blandly. at this point we are slowly adding publishers and working out any kinks as we go along. we would certainly love to have you as a tester. we will support blogger in the near future. thx.

Just wondering if you got the bugs out of the system for the typepad widget?

I must admit, this is pretty awesome. I love the thread system especially.

cool, yeah doesnt the threading make it easier to follow? what do you think about the reputation system. the little "?" is a brief description of the reputation. be sure to let us know if you encounter any bugs. thanks for the cool comment, very motivating!

No problem, it looks like you guys have done a great job with this. I just noticed the reputation meter; very nice idea. Just wondering… how do you get or lose reputation points?

we have an algorithm that assigns a reputation based upon a user's comments across all blogs that use our system. we expect experts to emerge and people wanting to follow those with high reputations.

the algorithm incorporates our voting function into the formula. so the more you get voted down for your comments, your reputation will follow. the algorithm will constantly be tweeked to guard against gaming of the system.

Basically, the reputation is a function of the number of comments as well as the quality (based on the user rating) of the comments you've made.

So it encourages commenters not to make a bunch of generally pointless comments, lest they not be rated… I'm down with that. But what if there happens to be some "rating apathy"; what if people just don't rate (or don't know they're supposed to)?

we believe that many users already know digg and the way their voting system works. if there is apathy we will attack this from a marketing and design perspective to 1)get the word out and 2)make it more obvious and friendly

Jon, can you explain how ID handles trackbacks?

Currently we do not handle trackbacks. This is something we're considering incorporating in the future, but for now we're try to focus our attention on improving the comments themselves. If this is something that is important to you I'd encourage you to email us, note it in the forums, or simply reply to this post and let us know. Please keep the questions / feedback coming.

Blogger and ID rocks sisters!!!!!

Just finished installing ID and giving it a spin around the block at my http://asshatcentral.blogspot.com/ site, which I created a while back but haven't done anything with yet. Installation is ridiculously simple, not so simple that you don't know your doing it mind you (which is good) DeMediacratic Nation didn't work out well as my template is specialized and is not a Blogger one, nor is it a Blogger one that has been tweaked, so it's understandable. I just may go back to my previous template to take advantage of ID there…dunno, lot of work on that idea and I don't have much time.

i dont know exactly what that means, but i like it :)

Sweet deal Blandly, I'll help you test it if you need. Or you could post something crazy, and I'm sure you would get a response. ;-)
