Republican Strategist Bucks the Beltway with New Book

Addresses the Bush Doctrine, the Conservative Ground Game, and the perils – and payoffs – of American Politics.

(Bend, OR)  Elizabeth “Media Lizzy” Blackney, a native Oregonian raised primarily in Atlanta, Georgia, is celebrating the release of her first book Sex, Lies & Politricks.  The book was published by TMK Books, a boutique-publishing house led by Blackney.

“For years, I have marveled at the people I have in my rolodex.  As a political consultant, I realized how much power and control is invested in so few people.  There are so many smart and talented folks working in the political trenches who deserve to be heard.  TMK Books is small but we have great aspirations and a solid stable of talent.  I believe changing the status quo requires a pro-active, positive approach.  My stable of advisers is solid folks with a wealth of political, corporate and publishing experience.  I am confident we can make a change.  Not all Republicans and Democrats fit the stereotypes we see on television.  In fact, I believe the struggles we see in Washington are really about the generational turnover beginning to happen.  It’s goodbye Reagan, hello globalism.”

As for her book Sex, Lies & Politricks, Blackney is quick to assert, “It is not anyone’s kiss and tell.  I do not want to get into the personal lives of any political figure.  My focus is how the political process is working, and reminding Americans that they have an obligation to participate.  My generation is beginning our ascendancy to the highest offices in the land.  In Oregon, Jason Atkinson made a real splash.  Look at Missouri, Governor Matt Blunt is very fresh faced.  Domestic political squabbles obfuscate real issues and real progress.  When I highlight the political shortcomings of some leaders, which I have in this book, I am articulating publicly what I have advised friends and clients privately for years.  Once upon a time, I was a party and candidate mouthpiece.  Not anymore.”

Sex, Lies & Politricks is not just about the American political process though.  It opens with a high impact, and controversial statement.  “Islamic Extremists are the Weapons of Mass Destruction.”  For Blackney, there is little room for nuance when it comes to the Global War on Terror.  In this post-September 11th world, Blackney incisively makes an argument for a robust and preemptive, foreign policy.  Her recollection of the bonds among Bush loyalists inside the Beltway, and among the Gold Star families, is poignant and direct.  A Gold Star wife for nearly a decade, her empathy for the burdens of today’s military is more than palpable.

Sometimes sassy, provocative, and occasionally circumspect, Blackney delivers a punch.  ”I am very fortunate to have access to the caliber of folks that helped advise me on different issues as I wrote this book.  Who knew a girl born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland would eventually meet the president?  Or attend a presidential debate?  Or have a former Governor seek my counsel as we drove around Southern California attending political events, only to have him decide he will seek the presidency? Or meet Bob Dole, and be the recipient of his selfless act of kindness?  Or meet the Prime Minister of Israel? It is an amazing experience to work in politics.  With all the accusations about politics being filled with elitists, I think it is important to note that people from humble backgrounds can get right in there, and make a difference.  Sex, Lies & Politricks is my call to arms.”
