Happy Holidays from a Class Warrior
As we move closer to celebrating the birth of Jesus, I would like to point out a fact that should make the right-wing peddlers of fake religion drop to their knees and ask forgiveness for supporting a party that cares only about advancing corporate interests and consolidating wealth. This fact is really quite obvious and is right out in the open for all those who have ever opened a Bible. The Bible tells us that Jesus considered consolidated wealth and concentrated power to be one of the greatest threats to a just and moral society.
Now it is this fact that brings me both hope and dissapointment. I am dissapointed and angered that for the last twenty-five years we have seen a buildup of consolidated wealth and corporate power unseen since the Guiled Age. I am brought hope because we have conquered these foes before and I know that a mighty and proud American middle class will not lay dormant forever. However, the middle class is dwindling thanks to a Republican Party that has been bought and paid for by the intellectual heirs of the Robber Barons. Now some may say that I am trumping class war a bit. I say that those people are correct. The intellectual decendants of the Robber Barons have been waging class war since the mid-1970’s and we must engage them in battle.I know this is harsh talk in the midst of the holiday season, but now is the time when I am most reminded of the morale needed for a strong and vigilant middle class. To use language that the Christian Right would surely enjoy, we are in a war whether we like it or not. Wages are stagant and have even dropped in some sectors since the 1970’s. Corporate profits are at an all time high though we aren’t feeling the benfits of it. When the stock market hits 12,000 is doesn’t mean much to the average wage earner. Additionally, inequality is the worst it has been in 80 years.
This holiday season I am reminded most of what needs to be defended. As I sip egg nog and am surrounded by loved ones, I am thankful for my Father’s union wage and my Step-Mother’s devotion to the dream of a public education system that gives hope to all children. I am devoted to defending the hopes and simple dreams of working Americans.
Come January, the party that rescued America from the effects of unregulated capitalism and created the American Middle Class will return to power. No doubt the Republican protectors of privilege will be vigilant in their desire to expand the riches of their corporate patrons. It is my hope that the Democrats will remind themselves of what their party has done to make America the land of hope and dreams, and that they will be fearless in the face of a party that weakens America.
A final note: Bill Moyers speaks often about the theme of “Wealth vs. Commonwealth.” Each of us must choose which side we are on. Happy Holidays and enjoy the vacation that had to be fought for and won.

The real killer is that these mega-corporations are the ones helping to discourage immigration reform because they want to pay illegals horrible wages at the expense of Americans. This year as a Christmas present, I would like to see leaders in both parties come together to understand the idea that corporate welfare should be placed the scrap heap of history.
And another thing– why do we tolerate politicians who claim to be pro-life, yet support the death penalty? This shows a great deal of intellectual dishonesty if you ask me– the Christian right in the GOP ought to run these folks out of town on a rail (like they mob did to Homer Winslow in \"Oh Brother Where Art Thou\"!)

Nice reference to a great flick! The Christian right is very confused on EVERY issue! They can be just as rigid and self-righteous as the worst of the world\'s religious extremists!
