North Korea Nuclear Test(s)

On October 9th 2006, North Korea successfully detonated a nuclear bomb during a planned test. The word around the globe is that they are planning a 2nd test.

N. Korea has stated the United Nations sanctions are a ‘Declaration of War’.

Lots of questions are in need of answers. Lets hear what you have to say about this emerging issue.

There are other options before that comes to mind.

The UN should hold a meeting and see what N. Korea wants, and what will make them agree to stop nuclear weapons tests.

The leaders should all discuss before any war or threat is declared. I am not saying Military actions may not come at a later date; there are other actions which come first.

It seems to me that one way to stop an aggressive nation is not by war or fighting power with power. If we keep appeasing them, it will only make them hungrier (aka Germany circa 1938).

It can be argued that one way to resolve this conflict and make NK a more peaceful nation among a community of nations is to bring them into the global trade alliance(s). I think that once a country becomes economically dependent on other countries to fill their treasury and make them less unlikely to upset the balance, is to open trade with them.

I would say, lets find out what they want in terms of trade and what they would like to be their chief exporter that would give them a near monopoly on and help them build up the infrastructure and technology to lead the world. China is a much more peaceful nation now than it was 30 years ago now that they lead the world in manufacturing.

Nuke them and end it??

OR……..we could just meet the demands that they have had since Bush took office, to meet unilaterally with them. How can we represent a Democracy without respecting the requests of a nation that wants to have face to face dialogue and deliberation? Personally, I blame the detonation of this Nuke as much on our Foreign Policy as I do their wacko leadership.
